During King Charles III’s visit to Australia, MP Patrick Gorman offered free portraits of the King to constituents who visited his office in Perth, in accordance with a little-known government policy allowing Australians to request a portrait of their monarch. This policy is unique in a country where attitudes towards the British royals as heads of state are increasingly ambivalent. While individuals in other Commonwealth nations have limited options for obtaining a portrait of King Charles, Australians can simply visit their federal representative’s office to receive one.
