Kenya’s 2021 New York City Marathon champion Albert Korir has been banned for five years after admitting to using the banned performance-enhancing drug erythropoietin (EPO). His ban, effective from January 8, 2026, follows a series of doping scandals in Kenya, where over 140 athletes have faced sanctions since 2016.
