Kenya’s Director of Public Prosecutions Office has charged Festus Omwamba with human trafficking for allegedly recruiting Kenyan youths to fight for the Russian army in Ukraine. Omwamba pleaded not guilty to the charges and is believed to be part of a larger human trafficking syndicate. More than 1,000 Kenyans have reportedly joined the Russian army, with some ending up on the front lines in Ukraine. Separately, South Africa reported the deaths of two citizens in the conflict.
