Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan refused to dismiss U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s hush money conviction, despite the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity, with the case’s future remaining uncertain. Trump’s lawyers have raised other arguments for dismissal, and a sentencing date is still undetermined. Prosecutors insist the conviction should stand, stemming from Trump’s falsifying business records in relation to a $130,000 US hush money payment to Stormy Daniels in 2016.
