Judge halts further student loan forgiveness under part of Biden’s new repayment plan

A federal judge has stopped the Biden administration from moving forward with a portion of its student loan forgiveness program. The decision puts a halt on cancelling $55.6 million in student loan debt for 1,800 borrowers. The ruling comes after a lawsuit was filed by a group of states challenging the administration’s authority to enact the loan forgiveness plan.
