Judge Halts DOGE Access to Treasury Payment Systems

In response to a lawsuit filed by Letitia James and 18 other Democratic state attorneys general, U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer temporarily restricted access to Treasury Department’s systems by Elon Musk’s government efficiency program, citing risk of leaks and hacking. The lawsuit alleges that President Trump breached constitutional protections by granting young aides access to sensitive government information, leading to disruption of federal funding for various programs. The defendants must show cause on Feb. 14 before Judge Jeannette A. Vargas in this ongoing legal battle.
