Judge Dismisses Criminal Case Against TikTok Streamer in Detention
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A federal judge dismissed the criminal case against TikTok streamer Carlitos Ricardo Parias, citing constitutional violations due to his lawyers’ lack of access while he was in immigration detention. U.S. District Judge Fernando Olguin ruled that the government’s failure to manage overlapping agency actions led to these violations, and the dismissal prevents re-filing of charges. Parias, indicted for assaulting a federal officer, gained prominence for documenting police and immigration enforcement in his community. The U.S. Attorney’s office is currently considering an appeal against the ruling.
