Judge rejects former detective’s request to postpone prison sentence

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A former Louisville police detective, Brett Hankison, convicted of excessive force during the Breonna Taylor raid, is set to report to prison after a judge denied his request to remain free during his appeal. Hankison, sentenced to 33 months for firing shots that nearly hit neighbors, became the first officer charged in connection to the incident, despite prior acquittals on state charges.
