Joe Carnahan Reflects on His Unmade DAREDEVIL Trilogy Set Across the 1970s and '80s

In 2012, director Joe Carnahan was close to realizing a unique Daredevil trilogy inspired by the music and culture of the 1970s and 80s before 20th Century Fox lost the character’s rights, leading to Marvel reclaiming it. Carnahan envisioned a gritty, character-driven narrative, with each film reflecting the era’s distinct musical styles, akin to Taxi Driver and Frank Miller’s work. Despite his admiration for the current adaptations, Carnahan expressed disappointment over not being able to bring his darker, stylized vision of Matt Murdock to life.
