Investigation into Chief of Air Force Following PSC Screening
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A formal investigation into alleged misconduct by Chief of Air Force Air Vice-Marshal Darryn Webb was initiated about a year after his appointment, despite the Public Service Commission being aware of rumors during the vetting process. The allegations were first raised with then-Chief of Defence Air Marshal Kevin Short in 2023, who conducted a preliminary assessment without informing the Commission. Defence Minister Judith Collins acknowledged the investigation launched by the Chief of Defence Force in July 2025 but did not confirm prior knowledge of the issue. Collins stated that no evidence of wrongdoing was found against Webb during the inquiry.
