Three fishermen were rescued after their boat began to sink in Manukau Harbour, approximately 2km from Puketutu Island. They set out from the Māngere Bridge boat ramp and managed to call the police just after midnight, although they were unsure of their exact location. A search and rescue operation was promptly initiated, coordinated by the Police Maritime Unit from the Marine Rescue Centre. Fortunately, all three were successfully located and rescued.
