NZ Citizen Sauni Sini Deported from Australia for Family Violence

A New Zealand citizen, Sauni Sini, 55, was deported from Australia due to a history of family violence spanning over 20 years, despite claiming to have extensive family ties in the country. His visa was canceled while he was serving a 14-month sentence for violence against his ex-partner at Cessnock Correctional Centre in March 2025. The review tribunal considered community ties in its decision but ultimately upheld the deportation order. Sini was subsequently moved to an immigration detention center.
