Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that recognizing the State of Palestine before its establishment could be counterproductive, advocating for a simultaneous recognition of Israel by any new Palestinian entity. This comment follows France’s recent recognition of Palestine at the UN, which faced backlash from Israel and the U.S., while Germany remains focused on progressing towards a two-state solution without immediate recognition of a Palestinian state.
