Israel Recognizes Somaliland, Faces Global Criticism

The Arab League, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and African Union (AU) condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, calling it a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and a dangerous precedent for regional stability. Somaliland, which declared independence in 1991, received support from its president, while Somalia labeled the recognition an “act of aggression.” The EU and several nations, including Egypt and Turkey, echoed the call for maintaining Somalia’s territorial integrity.
