Israel widens focus of war to include Lebanon front

Israel expanded its war aims to include Hezbollah along its northern border with Lebanon, in addition to its ongoing fight against Hamas in Gaza. The announcement coincided with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to revive ceasefire talks for the Israel-Hamas conflict. Previously focused on crushing Hamas and rescuing hostages, Israel’s new objectives mark a significant shift in the scope of the conflict.
