Israel Security Cabinet Approves New West Bank Control Rules

Israel’s security cabinet has approved new regulations that strengthen Israeli control over the occupied West Bank, which the Palestinian presidency has condemned as a “dangerous” attempt to legalize settlement expansion. The Palestinian Authority has called for intervention from the US and UN, while Jordan also denounced the decision as a violation of sovereignty. The new rules facilitate land purchases by settlers and increase Israeli oversight in Palestinian areas, threatening the prospects for a two-state solution. Palestinian officials warn that these actions could escalate tensions in the region.
