Israel’s military has issued new displacement orders to residents in towns and villages in southern Lebanon, extending beyond its current zone of occupation, despite a ceasefire with Hezbollah. The warning, posted by the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee, instructs residents to evacuate their homes immediately and move at least 1,000 meters away from villages and towns. This directive affects more than 10 villages and towns, including areas in the district of Nabatieh north of the Litani River.
Why It Matters
The escalation of displacement orders and Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, despite a ceasefire, highlights the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. The increased violence has resulted in casualties, with at least 10 people killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday alone. The situation underscores the fragility of the ceasefire and the need for both parties to fully implement peace agreements to prevent further bloodshed.
