A committee of MPs and peers has urged the UK government to prosecute over 400 Islamic State (ISIS) fighters who have returned to the UK after committing atrocities abroad, including targeting minority groups like the Yazidis. The Joint Committee on Human Rights emphasized that existing laws prevent prosecution unless perpetrators are UK nationals or residents, calling for amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill to address this gap. Additionally, the committee highlighted the dire conditions faced by children of former ISIS fighters in camps in Syria and the urgent need for their repatriation.
