Robot vacuums are convenient devices that can save people a lot of time and effort. However, some of the well-known options can be expensive, especially when they include a mopping function. iRobot has introduced a relatively affordable 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop called the Roomba Combo Essential, priced at $275. This model boasts 20 times more suction power than the Roomba 600 Series, along with a mop and smart navigation capabilities.
iRobot claims that the Roomba Combo Essential offers 25 percent better performance in picking up dirt from hard floors compared to the Roomba 600 Series. It also has a longer battery life of up to 120 minutes, the ability to clean in organized rows, customizable suction and liquid settings, Clean Map reports, and intelligent features like suggested cleaning schedules.
You can schedule cleanings in advance or start one at any time using voice commands from Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant. Alternatively, you can manually start a cleaning session by pressing the Clean button or using the iRobot Home app.
The Roomba Combo Essential features a four-stage cleaning system with adjustable suction and liquid settings, a v-shaped multi-surface brush, an edge-sweeping brush, and a pump-fed microfiber mop pad. To use it for vacuuming only, you’ll need to remove the mop pad first, which can be a bit inconvenient. Additionally, this model does not have a self-emptying feature, so you’ll need to manually empty the dirt storage bin more frequently.
Despite these drawbacks, the Roomba Combo Essential offers great value at an attractive price point. It is currently available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with a US release date of April 7 and a Canadian release date of April 12. The device will be launched in Asia Pacific markets later this month. Customers in the US can trade in a Roomba 600 Series for a $50 credit towards the Roomba Combo Essential.
In addition, iRobot is introducing the Roomba Vac Essential in North America, which has similar smart features as the Combo Essential but does not include a mop. Priced at $250, the Roomba Vac Essential will be available in the US on April 7 and in Canada on April 12.
Furthermore, iRobot has achieved a significant milestone by selling over 50 million robots since the debut of the Roomba in 2002.
