Former Ards player Robertson fulfilled his promise to his mother by debuting for the All Blacks in 1998 and later facing Ireland in a Test match alongside Richie McCaw. Maintaining a close relationship with the Heron family, Robertson has shown compassion and leadership, leading to his successful coaching career with the Crusaders and ultimately becoming head coach of the All Blacks. Despite the family’s dilemma of who to support during the game, they take pride in Robertson’s achievements and his time at Ards RFC.
