Former Ards player Robertson fulfilled his promise to his mother by debuting for the All Blacks in 1998 and later facing Ireland in a Test match alongside Richie McCaw. Maintaining a close relationship with the Heron family, Robertson has shown compassion and leadership, leading to his successful coaching career with the Crusaders and ultimately becoming head coach of the All Blacks.
