A general in Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Ruhollah Bazghandi, has been charged in New York for his alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate Iranian-American journalist Masih Alinejad. Along with three other Iranians, Bazghandi faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and money laundering. The US has accused Iran of seeking to silence critics and has offered rewards for information on related assassination plots.
