A conference at the European Parliament hosted by MEP Bert-Jan Ruissen advocated for the recognition of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist group, citing its involvement in supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, and violent crackdowns on protesters in Iran. Lithuania became the first EU country to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization, urging other democratic states to follow suit. The European Parliament has previously called for the inclusion of the IRGC on the EU terrorist list, but the decision requires unanimous approval among member states, with Germany, France, and the Netherlands among those considering the move.
