Intel Struggles To Reverse AMD's Share Gains In x86 CPU Market

Mercury Research reported that Intel’s x86 CPU market share increased to 75.6% in Q1, while AMD’s share rose to 24.4%, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 3.6 points for AMD. Including IoT and semicustom products, AMD’s market share reached 27.1%, gaining ground in desktop and server segments but losing ground in laptops to Intel. Additionally, ARM’s CPU market share surpassed 10% for the first time, driven by Nvidia’s Grace CPUs and increased shipments for Chromebooks, with ARM’s PC processor market share growing to 13.6% in early 2025.
