A former FBI agent, Scott Duffey, believes that employees at the Orleans Parish Jail likely knew about and assisted in the escape of ten inmates, which he deems nearly impossible without inside help. Duffey, now director of the Wilmington University Criminal Justice Institute, noted that such a significant breach of security would imply that many more than just the escapees were involved. Investigators are probing the situation, with three employees already suspended, while authorities try to locate the fugitives, suspected to be hiding with family or friends in the New Orleans area.
