India To Penalize Universities With Too Many Retractions

India’s national university ranking system will penalize institutions with high retraction rates of published papers, a first for such rankings, in response to rising misconduct-related retractions. With India having the second-highest number of retractions globally, the government aims to address concerns over research integrity, as over 2 papers per 1,000 published are retracted in the country.
