On September 2, relentless rains caused a landslide in Sarh village, Indian-administered Kashmir, destroying Shabir Ahmad’s home and nearly 20 others, displacing families and ruining livelihoods. Climate disasters have displaced over 32 million people in India from 2015 to 2024, with significant recent increases in displacements. Despite the launch of the National Adaptation Fund on Climate Change in 2015, funding has drastically declined, impacting crucial adaptation projects. India emphasized the urgent need for increased adaptation financing at COP30, yet domestic funding remains stagnant.
