India inks $248 million deal with Russia for T-72 tank engines | India News

India signed a $248 million contract with Russia’s RoE for 1,000 HP engines for T-72 Tanks in different conditions, including ToT for licensed production at Avadi. Upgrading the mainstay T-72 fleet with more powerful engines will enhance Army mobility and offensive capabilities. Additionally, the Army is inducting T-90S tanks, Arjun Mark-1A tanks, and indigenous light tanks for high-altitude warfare to strengthen its capabilities amid ongoing tensions with China in eastern Ladakh.
