In Oct. 7 Report, Israeli Security Agency Puts Some Blame on Netanyahu Government

Israel’s domestic security service, the Shin Bet, admitted to failing to heed warnings of a planned Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, while also blaming government policies for enabling Hamas to prepare for the strike. The agency’s report detailed missed warnings dating back to 2018, acknowledging its failure to respond appropriately to signs of impending violence. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu resisted calls for an independent review, as the Shin Bet chief and departing military chief took responsibility for the attack, citing coordination failures and government policies as contributing factors.
