In Fire-Scarred Altadena, Some Residents Insist on Staying Put

Despite no electricity, running water, or natural gas, they consider themselves lucky as their homes were spared. Los Angeles County officials have closed off the town, restricting access and supplies to those who remain, with concerns of air quality and lack of utilities prompting calls for evacuation. National Guard troops have enforced a perimeter, limiting access to emergency workers and residents, leading many to believe they are being forced out of the evacuation zone against their will.
