In Altadena, a fight to save the trees that survived the fire

After the Eaton fire in Altadena, Seriina Covarrubias believed that two oak trees had saved her blue house on East Calaveras Street. Despite being tagged for removal by the Army Corps of Engineers, certified arborists deemed the healthy trees unnecessary to cut down. Covarrubias protested the removal, highlighting concerns over the premature cutting down of trees in the area by the Corps, sparking a community effort led by Altadena Green to preserve the town’s iconic trees.
