Teacher Kaaren Stewart Loses Registration for Handling Preschooler

A preschooler was forcibly taken into a bathroom by early childhood teacher Kaaren Stewart, who subsequently dragged the crying child back to class. Stewart’s actions, deemed unnecessary and rough, were classified as serious misconduct, which she denied. As a result, her registration has been cancelled following the February 2020 incident at the Alphabet Academy Cloverlea Centre in Palmerston North. The child suffered trauma from this experience.
