An illegal immigrant from India, Rajinder Kumar, has been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after being released from jail in connection with a crash that killed newlyweds William Micah Carter and Jennifer Lynn Lower in Oregon. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Kumar, 32, allegedly caused the accident on U.S. Highway 20 by jackknifing his semi-truck on November 24. Following the crash, which occurred just 16 days after the couple’s marriage, Kumar was charged with criminally negligent homicide and reckless endangerment. He had entered the U.S. illegally in November 2022 and was later granted work authorization, as well as a commercial driver’s license in California. Following his release by local officials, Kumar was apprehended by ICE and is now awaiting deportation proceedings.
