Nortessa Montgomerie was violently assaulted and nearly killed by her ex-boyfriend Nathan Boulter in 2011 after she left him due to his repeated abuse. Over 38 hours, Boulter subjected her to physical attacks and threats until she managed to convince him she would leave the island with him, ultimately saving her life. Recently, Montgomerie faced Boulter for the first time since his imprisonment, as he was sentenced for the murder of Christchurch mother Chantal McDonald.
