Top UN court says it does not have authority to rule on case accusing UAE of arming rebel Rapid Support Forces paramilitary.

The International Court of Justice has dismissed Sudan’s case against the UAE, which accused it of violating the genocide convention by supporting the Rapid Support Forces during Sudan’s civil war, citing a lack of jurisdiction due to a UAE carveout. The court rejected Sudan’s request for emergency measures to protect the Masalit people, affirming the UAE’s stance that the claims were baseless. The ruling, supported by a 14-to-two vote, emphasizes the UAE’s denial of involvement in the conflict despite accusations of arming rebel forces.
