US Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested at least 44 people on Friday during a raid in downtown Los Angeles.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expanded its immigration crackdown in Los Angeles, arresting at least 44 individuals after executing search warrants, which sparked protests met with police force. Critics, including LA Mayor Karen Bass and the ACLU, condemned the operations as oppressive, while senior White House aide Stephen Miller characterized the protests as insurrection. ICE’s actions align with President Trump’s goal to significantly increase deportations, as officials maintain their commitment to enforce immigration laws despite local opposition.
