Fans face higher travel costs for T20 World Cup in India vs Pakistan matchup

Indian cricket fans are facing inflated airfares and hotel prices as they travel to Sri Lanka to watch their team play against archrivals Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. Geopolitical tensions almost led to the match being canceled, but Pakistan’s government reversed its boycott order. This last-minute decision caused a surge in airfares, with some fans paying up to 50% more than usual. Accommodation costs also rose sharply, with five-star hotels in Colombo charging between $400 and $1,000 per night. Despite the high prices, many fans are excited to witness the historic rivalry unfold on Sunday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
