Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and Newfoundland Power will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. NT on Saturday to provide an update on the Bay d’Espoir plant and the electricity system outlook for the next 48 hours, following power conservation warnings to customers. The companies advised residents to avoid charging electric vehicles during peak hours due to high demand and frazil ice issues affecting power supply. A team is actively working to remove the ice buildup that obstructs water intakes at the plant. CBC News will livestream the event.
