Police are searching for Hadush Gerberslasie Kebatu, a 38-year-old Ethiopian national and convicted child sex offender who was accidentally released from prison instead of being sent to immigration detention for deportation. Justice Secretary David Lammy and others have condemned the error, launching investigations to locate Kebatu, who was last seen boarding a train in Chelmsford heading to London.
