Hundreds of thousands evacuated as Typhoon Bavi approaches China

Super Typhoon Bavi has prompted the evacuation of over 600,000 people in China as it approaches after impacting Japan’s Sakishima Islands and northern Taiwan. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, leading to flight cancellations and school closures. In the Philippines, Bavi has contributed to landslides that have resulted in at least 17 fatalities, while Taiwan has reported injuries and evacuations as it braces for the storm.
