A whale-watching vessel operated by Prince of Whales made minimal contact with a humpback whale near Vancouver after the whale unexpectedly surfaced, leading to injuries among several passengers during the sudden stop. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada confirmed the whale was seen surfacing post-collision and noted that humpbacks are particularly vulnerable to ship strikes, especially as their population density increases in the area during the fall.
