The humanoid robots were no match for human rivals as they made their half-marathon debut in the Chinese capital.
At Beijing’s Yizhuang half-marathon, humans easily outpaced 21 humanoid robots in a historic 21km race. While some robots struggled, with one collapsing and another crashing into a barrier, the best-performing robot, Tiangong Ultra, finished over an hour behind the male winner with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes. Experts noted that although the event showcased advancements in robotics, the robots were not autonomous athletes and required engineering support, with future plans focusing on practical industrial applications.
