Breakthrough in Dental Care
Scientists at King’s College London have successfully grown human teeth in a lab using a material that mimics the natural tooth development environment, potentially allowing patients to regrow lost teeth and offering a viable alternative to fillings and implants. This advancement, which took over a decade to develop in collaboration with Imperial College London, could lead to stronger, longer-lasting teeth that integrate naturally into the jaw. Researchers are exploring methods for either growing entire teeth in the lab or implanting early-stage tooth cells directly into patients’ jaws for further development.
