A study by researchers from the University of Michigan found that harsh parenting during infancy can have lasting effects on children into adolescence, impacting the corticolimbic circuit of the brain. However, warm parenting during middle childhood was associated with positive connections in the brain, leading to reduced anxiety and depression. The findings suggest that early interventions and policies to support parents can promote healthy brain development and long-term well-being in children.
