Hotel Chocolat’s founder, Angus Thirlwell, is the son of the inventor of Mr Whippy and launched the brand in 2004. The name Hotel Chocolat was chosen to reflect the uplifting power of chocolate, with the “chocolat” part emphasizing how the chocolate melts in your mouth. The company now also owns a luxury eco-hotel on a cacao farm in St Lucia and brought the Rabot restaurant to London in 2013, evolving from an e-company in 1993 to The Chocolate Tasting Club in ’98 before rebranding in 2003.
