The FDA has announced the removal of black box warnings on hormone therapies for menopause, citing outdated science that has deterred women from seeking treatment. FDA Commissioner Marty Makary emphasized the importance of these therapies, which alleviate menopause symptoms like hot flashes and mood swings, following a review of recent studies showing lower risks than previously believed. The agency now recommends starting hormone therapy in women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause onset. Additionally, two new medications for menopause symptoms have been approved.
