Major Fire in Hong Kong Housing Estate
A significant fire broke out in Wang Fuk Court, a high-rise housing estate in Tai Po, Hong Kong, on Wednesday, resulting in at least four fatalities, including a firefighter, and five injuries, three critically. The fire, initially reported as a No. 1 alarm, escalated to a No. 5 alarm, the highest level, as firefighters battled the blaze, which produced large flames and thick smoke. Bamboo scaffolding outside the towers indicated ongoing renovations, complicating rescue efforts for those trapped. Local authorities diverted bus routes and closed nearby roads due to the emergency, amid a red fire danger warning in effect since Monday.
