Democrats withhold votes on DHS funding after Minneapolis shooting

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that Democrats will not support a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) following a fatal shooting by immigration agents in Minneapolis. Schumer criticized the inadequacy of the DHS bill due to Republican opposition to reforms. Several Democratic senators, including Elizabeth Warren and Tim Kaine, have voiced their opposition, emphasizing the need to reject funding for an agency they view as abusive. Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz has condemned the federal immigration enforcement in the state, calling it an “absolute abomination.”
