Two hill walkers in their early 20s were rescued from Scotland’s second highest mountain, Ben Macdui, after becoming trapped in -15C conditions. They set out ill-prepared, wearing jogging bottoms and trainers, without proper footwear or equipment like crampons and ice axes. The Cairngorms Mountain Rescue Team located them at 8:45 PM and safely brought them down by 1 AM after assessing their situation. Rescuers noted that surviving the night in freezing temperatures would have been a struggle for the pair.
