David Bassett, a 44-year-old Rancho Cucamonga native, was sentenced to four years in state prison for breaking into and stealing from cars at L.A. County cemeteries, including Forest Lawn and Oakwood Memorial Park, from Feb. 5, 2023, to Feb. 25, 2024. Bassett targeted mourners, making charges to credit cards he stole, while they were paying respects at gravesites, according to prosecutors. A restitution hearing to determine compensation for victims is scheduled for March 28.
